Ink light Lan Heaven and man are one
Winter Olympic uniforms and equipment are worn and used by staff, technical officials and volunteers of the Beijing Winter Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games, including clothing, shoes and accessories. The exterior design of the Winter Olympic uniforms and equipment is inspired by the traditional Chinese landscape painting and the snowy mountain picture of the core graphics of the Winter Olympics.
The design of the core graphics of the Winter Olympics shows the traditional Chinese idea of “Taoism and nature, the unity of heaven and man”, integrating the shape of the mountain and the Great Wall in the Jingzhang Competition Area, as well as the green landscape of “A Thousand Miles of Rivers and Mountains”. The uniform design finalized by the Beijing Winter Olympics Organizing Committee reasonably expands the core graphics of the Winter Olympics to three-dimensional clothing, using brushstrokes with the charm of Chinese ink painting, thick and thin lines, and layers of virtual and real near and far to skillfully integrate traditional aesthetics and ice and snow sports.
In terms of color selection, the calm ink color and the vibrant light red show the practical work and enthusiasm of the staff, the neutral Great Wall gray highlights the objectivity and impartiality of the technical officials, the bright sky blue shows the youthful vitality of the volunteers, and the pure Ruixue white as the harmonious color symbolizes the “Ruixue Mega Year”. The main colors of the Winter Olympic color system outline the magnificent scene and spatial artistic conception of the Winter Olympics, as well as the rhythm and rhythm of winter sports.

In the process of planning, designing, producing and producing uniforms for the competition, the uniform team, the main creative designer of the Beijing Winter Olympic Organizing Committee and the official partner of the Beijing Winter Olympic Organizing Committee Anta Company are fully dedicated.
Since 2019, the Beijing Winter Olympics Organizing Committee has established an expert committee on uniform equipment to check the selection of uniform equipment fabrics, version improvement, appearance design, etc. Relying on Beijing Institute of Fashion Technology and Anta Company to set up the “Uniform Equipment R&D Laboratory”, continuous research and development in fabrics, structures, processes and other aspects to complete sample testing. The visual appearance design of uniforms and equipment was solicited from all over the world, and a total of 602 sets and more than 10,000 works from home and abroad were received, which promoted the Winter Olympics and established an image in the collection activities.
On this basis, the China Fashion Designers Association was commissioned to organize and hold three review meetings to determine two sets of candidate design schemes. Finally, after repeated consideration and continuous optimization, a set of distinctive features, mature style and rich connotation of visual appearance design scheme was finally formed.
Coincidentally, the designer of the final plan, He Yang from the Beijing Institute of Fashion Technology, is also the uniform designer for the Beijing 2008 Olympic Games. In the summer of 2008, the summer Olympic uniforms with smart auspicious cloud patterns and refreshing colors became the eternal memories of many Chinese people about the Olympic Games.
From the Summer Olympics to the Winter Olympics, Olympic uniforms must not only have the same design principles, but also make technological breakthroughs and conceptual innovations according to the characteristics of winter sports. He Yang said that with the help of the large-scale international platform of the Winter Olympics, the image of Chinese culture can be well established, uniforms are an important clothing design project of the Olympic Games, and the design must have the awareness of the national brand image, so as to convey the spiritual outlook and fashion views of the Chinese people.
“The uniform design should first convey the cultural characteristics of the host country, which is different from the uniforms of previous editions. The second thing to consider is fashion and function, how are visual elements reflected in uniforms? Does everyone look good in it? The uniform should be unique, ensure that the uniform is eye-catching, easily recognizable, and avoid being submerged in the environment. He Yang said.
She gave examples of the double Olympic heritage of uniforms, such as the gray ink image of the Winter Olympic uniform top, which is also derived from the Great Wall gray in the color of the Winter Olympics, and the Great Wall gray is extended from the color of the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games, connecting the Beijing Summer Olympics and the Winter Olympics, reflecting the style of the double Olympic city.

In this regard, ANTA’s technical department and supply chain enterprises have made a lot of adjustments and improvements in the process, so that the patterns and colors can be perfectly presented in the uniform.
At the same time, uniforms and equipment also strive to practice the concept of green environmental protection and sustainability in all aspects of design, production and distribution. For example, the yarns used in equipment storage bags are all environmentally friendly yarns produced by recycling waste plastic products; The packaging bag is made of biodegradable masterbatch, and the degradation rate can reach more than 90% in 180 days; Shoe leather processing technology adopts patented water-saving technology.
